Although I am loving this site and have recommended it to many of my language students it feels quite static without an animated person to converse with. I realise this would require large amounts of increased computation but it could make for a much more virtual and interesting interaction. This animated virtual person could also lead you around a virtual environment and the sense of realism would be dramatically increased, as would motivation to return to this site for online learning.

Similar to how you can select phrases, etc, an option to conjugate (maybe present indicative by default, with options to select others)

I added a word to my vocabulary from chat at some point using the default 'Add to Vocabulary' button inside the word popup. I came across this word later and didn't realize it had already been added since there wasn't any indication as far as I remember. This time, I expanded the 'All Meanings' section and clicked the add button next to all 3 of the definitions shown since they were different enough to be worth remembering. When going through my vocabulary list later, I noticed that I now had 4 entries for this word, each with a single definition. There are a few issues with this flow: If I'm seeing a word in a chat that is already in my saved vocabulary, it should indicate that in some way. This indication should not only be inside the word popup, but it should also be emphasized some way within the chat. The latter is the part that provides that extra signal to the brain of either "you've saved this word in the past, so nice job remembering its meaning this time" or "you've saved this word in the past and still had no idea what it meant this time, so maybe you should do some focused practice with it". If I add multiple definitions to a word, they should be added to a single vocabulary entry. In my example above, I would expect a single entry for this word with 4 definitions. I would understand the duplication if this were a word that had been saved with different conjugations or declensions, but this was a basic standalone adjective with the exact same spelling. I think that the worst offender in this case was when I added multiple meanings for a word within the same popup and it resulted in separate entries for each of those meanings.

I have tested Call mode in my iphone and is terrific to have a real conversation while driving home. The problem I found is that the AI agent is too pleasing and most of her answers were "Optimal choice!" or "great idea" or "So good thinking!". Conversation is a bit too flattering and it incommodes me a bit. In Chat we have a setting that says "Don't always ask me a Q". I think it would be great to have link 2-4 personality types so we get different situations to train with. like 1-pleasent personality ( current) 2-normal people 3-challenging personality 4-variable along the conversation. What do you think?

I think it would be great if the AI can access all of a user's chat history. In this way the AI can provide better conversation and can simulate better to be a real tutor. This feature can also be available only in premium accounts, I think it's worth it.

One problem for foreign language learners whose native language is based on the Latin alphabet is that the person will pronounce a foreign word base on the sounds of his mother language. This action is a natural phenomenon, but unfortunately, the majority of the language learners are never or barely taught the nuances of vowels and consonants of a new language. We may learn the basic sounds of long vowels, but not those of short vowels, and rarely of consonants. IPA is an attempt at clarifying these sounds for each language in a written symbolic format. It would be ideal if the option were available to include these IPA symbols with the audio for the main word in a translation or for the flash cards. Since not everyone would like to learn these symbols, this should be a user initiated option (turn on or off).

I suggest adding the original sentence from which each saved word was extracted, so it can be shown as context in the flashcard. We tend to remember words better when they appear in emotionally meaningful contexts (conversations, readings, videos), so keeping the original sentence would greatly enhance memorization and retention. I am using an Android device, and when I go to the call mode, it does not allow for the audio to go through my earbuds. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

I'm brushing up on my French and I would like the option to create flashcards of unfamiliar words with the definition in French instead of the English word. I think this option would appeal to everyone who isn't an absolute beginner.

It's be very useful to be able to use simple html markup in flashcards, e.g. to be able to add more content. Additional fields that could display would also be appreciated - right now there is a hidden notes field - that for my cards might say the base verb or the gender/number of a noun, not always but sometimes - this is there when come cards are added automatically but we can't edit it. Can we edit this field or similar fields.

I would like questions about the story that the machine can easily generate. Ask me questions that I can answer about the story. It will make me speak out loud, adding to the value.

Feedback reports are really useful, but they are not actionable. Once you make a mistake and Langua offers you a correction, both get lost in the chat history. It would be very useful that Langua had some kind of exam/practice/review mode (with dedicated modules, ideally) where the system retests you on the grammar points, words or phrases you fail during the chats.

It is well documented that vocabulary has to be repeated several times to be memorized. It would be useful if the AI speaker could record the mistakes the learner made from one conversation to another to practice them specifically until it is memorized.

Dear Langua AI team, As a native English speaker from the UK, I’ve been using your platform to help with my French. While the overall experience has been promising, I want to raise a concern that I believe many English users share — though it often goes unspoken. Under the setting “What language should we show translations in? (typically your native language),” the only option available is “English.” However, this is almost always American English, not English as it is used in the UK. Examples include: • Vocabulary: “vacation,” “sidewalk,” “trash can,” etc. • Spelling: “color,” “organize,” “center,” etc. • Pronunciation: “schedule” pronounced “SKED-jool” instead of “SHED-yool.” This is frustrating, not because I dislike American English, but because it's being presented simply as “English”, which it is not. To be clear: American English is a variant of English, just as Australian or Canadian English is. But calling it just “English” — and offering no alternative — is misleading to speakers of other standard English dialects, especially British English. I’m not asking for the platform to change default choices globally — only to: Clearly label American English as such in settings where it applies. Offer British English as a separate translation/voice option where possible. Doing so would show respect for your global user base and avoid the assumption that American English is the only or default form of English. Thank you for considering this feedback.
